Sewer Clogs Costly - Totally Avoidable
|
03-01-18: Last night our Caretaker, Tom Radford, responded to an alarm at one of our sewer pumping stations. The pump was jammed up with a pair of women's underwear and was unable to pump the effluent out to the city sewer system. Had Tom not acted promptly, many of the toilets and drains in your park models and RVs would have backed up and leaving you with a smelly mess for sure.
Around 10pm last night, Tom got the pump to work log enough to reduce the level waiting to be pumped to a safe amount for the remainder of the night. Tom was up at 5am this morning to begin to try and diagnose the problem. He quickly realized that there was a major failure. Later this morning both Don Anderson, our plumber, and electricians from Ford Electric joined Tom.
They removed a pair of women's underwear from the pump housing. The pump sensors have been damaged and a circuit board is ruined and will need replacement quickly.
An obvious reminder: Don't flush anything down toilets except toilet paper and human excrement. No cloth products, feminine hygiene products, or anything else should go down the toilets. These are the kinds of avoidable problems that will cause dues to be raised for all.
Sometimes inappropriate things that get flushed can be tracked back up the sewer lines as one member found out last year. His guests put all kinds of things down the toilet totally clogging the line. We were able to track it back to his site and he had a rather stiff bill to pay.
And, if any of our ladies is missing a pair of underwear, be sure and see Tom.
