Modems, Modems and More Modems

04-07-17: This past Wednesday, Charter delivered about 190 modems to the Safari Office for members to pick up and use to access the internet.
The switch over to the Charter Bulk Internet program got off to a great start in February when teams of Charter technicians were at Safari for 5 weeks testing the cable connection at every lot in the park for noise on the lines. They found plenty of noisy lines, both underground and in individual units. They fixed the ones that they had access to and blocked the others from affecting the cable system. There are about 20 of these blocked units remaining and they will have no TV or internet until Charter can get access to clear the noise.
The last week of March, four Charter techs were onsite and installed 136 modems in units and cleared up some of the noisy lines that they could access. On April 1, the switch over was made and these 136 along with about 13 others already on Charter were actively using the new internet. Many stopped by to say how much they liked the speed of the new system and how professional and competent the techs were.
This week we have been doing some individual installations. Next week we will have a tech in the park most of the week. We are also doing all the preparation work on the modems in the office so that when you pick one up, you can just plug it in. And we do have volunteers in the park who will help install your modem and router if needed. Remember, if you want to connect phones, tablets, or use Wi-Fi, you do need a router. Previous articles on this website gave further information on how to obtain a router.
If you are in the park this week (April 10-14) and wish to have a tech stop by, be sure and send an email to us by clicking here. Include your name, site number, and when you are available. We will do our best to see that the tech can visit you. Also, if you aren't available in the park this week, when you are going to be here, send us an email 48 hours in advance and we will see that your modem is ready.
Lastly, if you are having a problem with your internet or TV, be sure and contact Charter. We have information in the office relating to your account number that you will need. Be sure and stop by the office and pick up the individual information for your account.
