FOBs Are Now Working Correctly!
|
11-28-16: As many of you noticed, when the new access gate system was installed earlier this month, the range of the FOB transmitters was only about 3-4 feet. That was not nearly what was promised and was in no way acceptable. The installers suspected that we had RF interference, possibly due to the high voltage overhead lines. (This is the same interference you might get on a car radio when driving under high voltage lines.)
The installers came back early last week to try to put in some filters to trap the interference, but they really did not do the job. They came back this morning and installed a very directional antenna and now the FOBs are working great. You should be able to press your FOB as you enter the Safari entryway and the gate should open for you.
Hats off to the folks at Metro Overhead Door from Portland for sticking with the problem until it was solved. You can see the new antenna in the picture to the left showing the "T" style directional antenna.
