New Mower at Safari
|
04-02-17: We have a new lawnmower here at Safari. The old one not only had a dead battery, which would not have been too costly to fix, but the main motor shaft bearing was failing and that was very costly to fix. The old mower was over 10 years old and actually, it would have cost more than the mower was worth to fix it.
So the new mower was purchased from the Capital Asset Replacement Fund. It cost $3,299 and was picked up from Ag Bag in Astoria by Caretaker Tom Radford and President Terry Stark. The new mower has a 52 inch deck which is a vast improvement over the old mower's 38 inch deck. This means that each pass of the mower cuts 35% more lawn and the new mower cuts faster and more thorough due to having 3 blades. It also has a feature called "Zero Turn" which means that it can quickly turn within its own radius. This makes clipping near trees and other obstacles much much faster than before. For a demonstration of the zero turn capability, click here.
