Building Update
|
04-04-18: Much has happened over the last few days on the project to replace the caretaker shop. The main task for this time period was to get the old shop emptied and torn down. Two POD storage units were delivered and the old trailer from the gravel yard were first moved up front so that the items needed from the shop could be stored until the new one is ready. Then Tom, aided by a number of volunteers emptied the two side sheds and tore them down.
The main shop had a power feed in it so it could not be dismantled until P.U.D. came out with Ford Electric to remove it from the circuit. That was done this morning and the remaining shop structure and concrete under it will be removed starting on Monday.
The main activities that happened over the winter were for the builder to draw up the detailed plans and then get those submitted to the county for approval. That was obtained early last month and a building permit was issued.
The demolition will be completed next week and then we will begin the site preparation. Utilities will be roughed in and the site will be leveled. Then gravel will be placed on it and compacted. We are planning to have the site preparation completed by May 1 and have it certified for the builders to begin. Building inspectors from the county will need to make several visits during these processes to verify that all is in compliance.
There is a 45 day lead time for the builders before they can begin erecting the new structure. That is the amount of lead time that they need once the site is certified. So we are anticipating that the actual construction will begin around the 15th of June. It will take approximately 2 weeks for construction. While the concrete floor will require 28 days to totally cure, we can begin the build out after a week or so. We should be able to have it totally completed soon thereafter.
