Lodge Flooring Project Completed
|
03-07-17: The Lodge flooring replacement project has been completed. The old floor was worn out and cracked and split in numerous places. Because it was made of asbestos, which is a carcinogen, it was a major safety issue. Because the cost to remove the old floor was so high, it was decided to go with sealing the old floor and laying the new one on top of it. Sealing the floor eliminates the asbestos from becoming airborne.
The project required the removal of all the toilets, furniture, and baseboards from the floor as it was being replaced. Tom Radford, our caretaker, did most of this work as well as removing the baseboards. Because we could not store the items outside, the project had to be done in phases.
The project cost over $11,200 and was completely funded from the Kitchen remodel fund and the Capital Replacement Fund.
