04/04/18 - Electrical Emergency and Building Power Moratorium
Electrical Emergency and Building Power Moratorium
|
04-04-18: Back when the P.U.D. electricians came out to Safari to connect up the new fish house, they notified us that we were out of power and not to connect up any more load to the system. Basically, the current electrical power feed and transformers are maxed out and if we connect more load, we will have brown out situations in the park.
Over the winter, this has not been a major problem because of the low occupancy. But with summer coming and the increased occupancy in the park, we have to address this issue. This came to a head when we discussed connecting the new caretaker shop and found out that we cannot connect anything more.
Because of the load limit, we are not allowed to bring in any more park models or approve any building permits that increase the load until the problem is rectified. To avoid brownouts and these limits, the board took action this morning to restrict future development in the park until we can resolve this with PUD.
Under Article III, Section 7, subsection (B)(1)b, the board has the authority to remedy emergency situations using the reserve fund when all board members approve the motion. That action was taken at this morning's board meeting. Additionally the board approved a moratorium on any building activity or site development that increases the power load in the park.
We have already initiated a request to P.U.D. for them to come to Safari and determine the best method to increase our electrical load capacity. We hope to have that information in the next week or two. Once we know the proper method, we will immediately begin the installation of whatever equipment and service is necessary.
As we learn more about the solution, we will post it here on the website.
