11-19-23: Good Evening Safarians!
It’s been a busy couple of weeks for the board as we build our team and learn the systems with invaluable assistance from former board members, Dave K., Diane S. and John L.
The primary goal of our team is to provide the membership with cohesive, functional, knowledgeable leadership, and to open the channels of communication between the membership and the board.
At the end of the day, Safari Association of Ilwaco is a business with significant holdings. As such, the organization must be run in a professional manner while still providing the membership with answers to their questions and listening to their concerns.
Effective communication is one of the top priorities of this administration and we are not taking it lightly. While we have, admittedly, gotten off to a slow start, rest assured we are working as fast as we can to rectify those delays.
There has been a great deal of interest shown by the members regarding the system utilized for our record keeping. This system is affectionately known as SMORS, which is an acronym for Safari Membership Online Record System. The system was given to Safari Association for their use in the administration and documentation of park business and, while not terribly complex, it does come with a learning curve which has, in part, been the source of some delays in our ability to communicate effectively with the membership.
With that being said, the information found on the Contact Us page of MySafari (the one you need to login to see) is correct. The board members are receiving your emails and are working together to address your concerns as they arise.
Stay tuned for more updates in the coming days as we gain our footing. We are discussing the addition of either a newsletter or resurrecting the email blast used in the past to communicate with the membership. In the meantime, please feel free to text or email questions to any board member and we will make every effort to get back to you as quickly as possible.
It is officially the start of the holiday season! The board would like to wish everyone a safe and satisfying Thanksgiving.
