THANKS
This week we want to thank both Mark Hanson and Steve Philpot for helping Tom out with some excavating and plumbing to relocate a water shutoff across a walkway. We are putting in a new walkway between the Tarzan-Jane South Restroom and Perimeter for members to have direct access and not need to walk through other member’s sites. Thanks, guys, for the assist!
JULY 4th PARADE
Once again, this year, we will be having the July 4th parade around the park. If you have a golf cart, bicycle, or similar conveyance, decorate it up and join the fun. We will also have our hayride as a part of the parade, so you can participate in the parade by riding the hayride. Participants and hay riders will gather at the lodge at 9:30 am. We will start the parade at 10am and will visit every street in the park.
CONFIDENTIALITY
We are very concerned about keeping your personal information confidential. Often members come into the office while there are records relating to other members out or on the computer screens. To protect the confidentiality of these items, when members come to the office for routine items like purchasing gate cards, making payments, etc., we will only have the top half of the office door open and will serve you there. If you need to bring up a confidential item with a board member, just let them know and they will arrange to meet with you privately.
SNUG
As some of you know, we had a death in the park last week. Without going into details, we arranged for a wellness check on a member that no one had seen for some time. The Sheriff came out and found that the member had been dead for some time. This may have been a situation where the member was unable to request help.
Mary Morse, a neighbor to the deceased, told me about a smart phone app called “SNUG” for both Android and Apple phones. (www.snugsafe.com) What SNUG does is have you pick a time every day to check in with the app. If you don’t check in on time, it sends you a text message reminder. And if you still don’t respond, it sends a text message to the emergency contact that you name alerting them that you have not been heard from and to check into it. There is no cost for this level of service. For those with more critical health concerns, there is a paid plan where they will call local authorities for a wellness check if you don’t check in. I have been using this for the last few days just to check it out before recommending it. I found it easy to use and set up and want to make you aware of it. I believe there are already several others in the park using it. If you live alone, I highly recommend that you consider SNUG or some other arrangement where your wellbeing can be verified. Thanks to Mary for suggesting this app.
SAFARI DAYS
Yes, it is time to start planning for Safari Days for the Labor Day weekend. If you missed it last year, you missed some great events. Tammie Ohrman is coordinating the event this year and is looking for folks to volunteer to help out. With your help, you can help us make Safari Days even better this year. Please contact Tammie at (505) 252-8940 to get details and sign up.
